Patience is not Seren's middle name...

In fact, Abielle, a common misspelling for the french word "Honeybee" is her middle name.  I should know, because I misspelled it on her birth certificate when I was in post partum fog.  The correct spelling is Abeille.  Now, the real meaning of her true middle name seems to be "Corporation Yard."  Not sure what that is, but I suppose it could be a fitting meaning of there are bones involved.

Even though Serenity is her first name, which most people tend to find ironic, we were not crazy enough to follow that name up with a middle name of "Patience."  Seren may be volatile, but she is as serene as a honeybee.  Who doesn't tread lightly around a honeybee for fear one may be at the wrong end of the stinger? Yet, a honeybee will go about its business in peace until something upsets it.  That is our Serenity.  Patient, she is not.

So, I picked up a weaving/bead project for Evy to work on while Penny is taking a nap.  Seren is old enough to learn how to thread beads and make her own necklace, but not mature enough for weaving.  Evy, on the other hand, has patience in spades.  She enjoyed her few minutes she had with her project until Penny rousted from her nap.  Seren enjoyed the bouncing beads.  Even though I showed her how to thread beads, they still wouldn't cooperate now matter how loud she screamed.  She did, however, scream loud enough for the table to vibrate and for the beads to use the opportunity to run away as fast as the could to some oblivion on the floor.  That is when Penny came out of her bedroom to save the day.

No, patience is not Seren's middle name.

Buffalo Style Chicken

So, I have made the Buffalo Style Chicken Wings before and they were great! This time I used an interesting hot sauce to marinate the chicken in (see picture). Also, we made the blue cheese dip according to recipe, but added cilantro and green onion...maybe a pinch of salt.  Great! And the kids liked it too!  Great low carb dinner.

Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

...is the recipe tonight.

Dinner with Seren tonight

...was a Serenism in itself.  We're eating the fish I made and she's scooping hers up with some rice with her spoon.  Each time she scooped, she dug straight down and grated the spoon across the bottom of the plate, making the sound for shear shock value.  "Seren, stop scraping the plate." Dig...screeeeeeeeech. "Seren..." Dig...screeeeech.  "That's enough Seren."...."Seren, please use your fork, not your fingers."  Seren proceeds to pick up her fork and skewer the fish she held between her fingers. Picked up another piece and skewered the fish with her fork as she held it in the palm of her hand.  "Seren, don't flick your chili pepper you found in your rice across the room, leave it on the edge of your plate..."

Oven Steamed Talipia

So, I made the Oven Steamed Sea Bass recipe, but with talipia.  It was great!  How great? Well, when I asked Evy if she wanted seconds, she readily agreed she would and exclaimed, "Mamma! Make  this again!"  Even Penny and Seren enjoyed it.

For dinner tonight

The recipe for Oven Steamed Sea Bass.  Of course, Sea Bass isn't in my budget, so it will be talipia.

What a date night!

Tonight was Seren's date night with Mommy and, boy, was she in a mood!

I had been teasing her with my video camera, trying to record some of the funny things she was saying. She got mad that I was trying to take her picture.  By the end of our date, she accused me of being a bad mommy all day.  I said, "But, I wasn't here all day, Seren. I was at work." Seren said, "You should tell your work that you're too busy! Too busy going on dates!"  Then I laugh at what she says and she threatens to send me back home to go live with my mother.  It's funny coming from a five year old (tomorrow), but I hope she grows out of it some by the time she's 15. Probably not so much. *sigh*
