So, I have made the Buffalo Style Chicken Wings before and they were great! This time I used an interesting hot sauce to marinate the chicken in (see picture). Also, we made the blue cheese dip according to recipe, but added cilantro and green onion...maybe a pinch of salt. Great! And the kids liked it too! Great low carb dinner.

Dinner with Seren tonight
...was a Serenism in itself. We're eating the fish I made and she's scooping hers up with some rice with her spoon. Each time she scooped, she dug straight down and grated the spoon across the bottom of the plate, making the sound for shear shock value. "Seren, stop scraping the plate." Dig...screeeeeeeeech. "Seren..." Dig...screeeeech. "That's enough Seren."...."Seren, please use your fork, not your fingers." Seren proceeds to pick up her fork and skewer the fish she held between her fingers. Picked up another piece and skewered the fish with her fork as she held it in the palm of her hand. "Seren, don't flick your chili pepper you found in your rice across the room, leave it on the edge of your plate..."
Oven Steamed Talipia
So, I made the Oven Steamed Sea Bass recipe, but with talipia. It was great! How great? Well, when I asked Evy if she wanted seconds, she readily agreed she would and exclaimed, "Mamma! Make this again!" Even Penny and Seren enjoyed it.
For dinner tonight
The recipe for Oven Steamed Sea Bass. Of course, Sea Bass isn't in my budget, so it will be talipia.

What a date night!
Tonight was Seren's date night with Mommy and, boy, was she in a mood!
I had been teasing her with my video camera, trying to record some of the funny things she was saying. She got mad that I was trying to take her picture. By the end of our date, she accused me of being a bad mommy all day. I said, "But, I wasn't here all day, Seren. I was at work." Seren said, "You should tell your work that you're too busy! Too busy going on dates!" Then I laugh at what she says and she threatens to send me back home to go live with my mother. It's funny coming from a five year old (tomorrow), but I hope she grows out of it some by the time she's 15. Probably not so much. *sigh*

To Xander
Dear Xander
The apples of your cheeks are the apple of my eye
Against my lips they are soft marshmallows
Tainted only by the scent of spoiled milk
Your breath is a warm breeze that washes over my soul
Like hot lanterns your eyes refine my very purpose
Your temple is where I want to be always
Listening to the pleasance of your breath as you listen to mine
While your bubbles of drool drip like dew upon my shoulder
and your head bobbles as you climb invisible mountains behind me
Your laugh sends me above cloud 9
I bask in your smile shining upon me like the glow from the sun
Your cries could awaken the most deafened ears
The depth of my heart is pierced by your pain
If only my love could heal your wounds
If only life was as innocent as you are
Please stay as pure as the water I put in your bottle
Don't ever let the dark mystery of life dampen your glow
Love,
Mommy

So I'm back to work...
...from being on maternity leave. I'm still trying to adjust but should have some more recipes to post soon. I think that I'll just be cooking on weekends, so that will limit some of the ones I post throughout the week. I'm doing decent on my low carb program. I've dragged my whole leg off the wagon the last couple weeks but I am still down a couple more pounds since the last time I checked. Clothes are fitting the same as they have last month. That's ok. Diets should be flexible with life, after all, a diet is really a way of eating for the better for the rest of one's life, right? Right.
I've run aground on Serenisms, but I have an Evyism to share. These are usually quite rare because Evy doesn't have a sarcastic bone in her body (whose child is she again?), but simply states the obvious truth in an out-of-the-mouths-of-babes type way.
Last week, I was warning Evy one evening to be very careful when we came home so as to not wake the younger children who were sleeping or Daddy would be very mad because he's had a rough time all day. Evy said, "I know Daddy has had a very rough time with Seren and Penny today because he BARELY got to watch ANY TV all day, even before I got home from school!"
Yup, now there's the truth from an 8 year old...lol

I'm going to have to speak with Mike about his parenting skills...
Before I left on maternity leave, he was visited by the sherriffs dept because seren was screaming bloody murder when the postal woman dropped off some mail and she thought Mike was beating her senseless. Today, the FBI showed up at our door...
Apparently they're investigating the sale of the homes in the community. No biggie...lol

My version of Party Teryaki Steak
It was EXCELLENT! Will do it again for sure!
Dinner ran late, which inspired tonight's Serenism: Daddy, if you don't feed us soon, we're gonna die! Daddy: And your argument is???

Eggs Benedict Good Housekeeping Style...
...was NOT a hit. Although, mine was pretty good without the bread. Otherwise, the children stared back at me in abject terror when I suggested they venture beyond eating their bacon dipped in hollandaise sauce. Mike doesn't like eggs benedict at all so his plate is the one with just sauteed veggies with over easy egg and slice of bacon. I made a similar recipe a year ago without the bell pepper and onion mixture and the kids enjoyed it quite a bit. So, the hollandaise sauce is awesome and so is the bacon, but I'll definitely put the bell pepper and onion mixture on the side and scramble their egg next time ;)
Eggs Benedict for Dinner Tonight
Sorry about missing a couple of evenings of dinners, so tonight I am making a breakfast recipe before I take Seren on her grocery shopping date.
